The Conservatives have lost their narrow 1-point lead as the Brexit crisis continues.
Theresa May?s lead on Corbyn as to who is best prime minister has halved since last month; her lead has dropped from +15 points on 26th February to +7 points, (25% May vs 18% Corbyn).
How closely aligned to public opinion is the House of Commons?
This week MPs voted on a range of alternative options to the prime minister?s Brexit plan, to indicate which one had the most support.† All the motions had more ?noes? than ?ayes?. However, when put to the public, on the whole they thought MPs should have voted for following motions: No-deal Brexit, ?Close alignment?, ?Common Market 2.0?, ?EFTA/EEA?. The biggest public backing was for Labour?s ?Close Alignment? motion, with 45% thinking MPs should have voted for it, while 27% think MPs should have voted against it. This motion had the highest backing amongst 2017 Conservative remainers (64%)
