Public opposed to “fast track” entry into the Polic
The Police service in England and Wales is set for a recruitment shake up under new Government plans to introduce ?direct entry? to the rank of inspector for promising candidates.
Research by Opinium shows that the public are skeptical.
When we asked our panel whether the police should service recruit a proportion of high quality candidates directly into the rank of inspector well over half, 61%, thought that they should not. This compares with just 17% of respondents who thought that this policy should be implemented. 22% said they were not sure.
It seems that a majority of the British Public still think every police officer should start out as a humble bobby on the beat.
