Nearly a fifth of adults think Britain should become a cash-only society
Our research of 2,000 UK adults has discovered that nearly 1 in 5 (17%) believe that Britain should leap back in time and return to a cash-only society.†
The increasing prevalence of cybercrime and online fraud is likely to be the catalyst behind this desire to return to basics, with over four fifths (82%) stating that the threat posed by online fraudsters is larger than ever before. There is a strong sense of helplessness within the British public when it comes to online security, with over 7 in 10 (73%) believing that cyberattacks are inevitable.
The research also revealed that nearly half (48%) of British adults have been affected by a phishing scam, with 6% of these stating that the fraudster managed to obtain private information through the scam.
