Britons back investment for better cycling routes
Lockdown strengthens public backing for low-carbon life, including sustainable transport investment and more public green space
Our research for All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) finds that 40% of people want to see investment in local bus services, and 37% of people want investment in cycling infrastructure. By comparison, fewer than one in seven people want money spent on more or bigger roads.
The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on the Green New Deal was officially formed earlier this month. Chair of the group and Green Party MP Caroline Lucas said the survey should make the Government rethink its plans to spend £27bn on roads over the next five years.
